DETAILS

  • Richard III (Tom Mothersdale) kneels over the body of Henry, who is bleeding from his head. Richard is wearing all black with black leather gloves. He has an articulated brace on his left leg. He's pointing at himself and angrily shouting. A curved wall of arched mirrors sits at the back of the stage, the floor looks like black gravel.

  • Ratcliffe (Heledd Gwynn) stands with her hands behind her back. She smirks at someone in front of her out of shot. She's wearing a black woman's suit with a white turtle neck underneath. The suit is buttoned at the waist. Her hair has been shaved to a fine stubble. The rest of the image is black, except for a small streak of light shining down the black textured back wall.

  • Ratcliffe (Heledd Gwynn) stands over Clarence (Tom Kanji) who kneels in front of her. She holds a knife in her right hand with her left holding Catesby's shoulder.

  • Norfolk (Leila Mimmack) confronts Stanley (Michael Matus). They stand close facing each other, with their sides to the camera. Both are wearing black jackets. The light is warm and orange.

  • Richard III (Tom Mothersdale) gets up in the face of Elizabeth (Derbhle Crotty). Elizabeth looks down her nose at him. She wears a green velvet dress and a long gold thin necklace with a gold droplet on the end. Richard is wearing a dull gold metal crown.

  • Ratcliffe (Heledd Gwynn) stands opposite Clarence (Tom Kanji). Their backs against the edge of the wings. Ratcliffe looks upwards, her hands in her pockets. Above them is a bright white ring of light, shining light down through some wisps of haze. Behind them is a concave set of arched mirror panels, multiple reflections of them are visible in the panels.

  • Richard III (Tom Mothersdale) lays on the floor shielding himself from the ghosts of Clarence (Tom Kanji) and Henry (John Sackville) who stand over him. Richard is a tight white pool of light. Clarence blows white dust over Richard creating a large plume over him which Richard tries to waft away. Henry looks on directly behind.

  • The full company stand spread apart across the stage for Richard III's (Tom Mothersdale) coronation. He is visible on a throne on a balcony above at the back of the stage. Behind the company on the stage floor are the arched mirror panels which give the effect of a larger crowd. The light on them all is green-tinged, like an overcast day. Stage smoke mist rises at the sides and catches the light.

  • Richard III (Tom Mothersdale) battles Richmond (Caleb Roberts). Richmond has grabbed Richard's forearm as Richard tries to stab Richmond with a knife. Richmond wears black combat trousers, and a black stab vest. Richard is in a black jacket with his left leg in an articulated leg brace.
